About Holden Clough:
Nestled within the picturesque countryside of The Ribble Valley, Holden Clough Nurseries is an award winning, vibrant, natural space full of plants and wonder. As plant growers, we offer one of the largest offerings of homegrown hardy perennials in the North West. We have an on-site café, many retail spaces, we host artisan markets, workshops, expert-led talks, and we also offer a successful flowed bed / garden design service called The Wonder Garden. Lead by our owner John Foley, expert plantsman and RHS Master Grower 2023, we are now looking to expand our Wonder Garden landscaping team as demand for this service has grown significantly.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced gardener / landscaper to join our Wonder Garden team for preparing, picking, packing up and then planting a variety of plants, shrubs, bulbs and trees in the flower beds that we design for our private clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Working off-site in our customer’s gardens
Preparation of planting areas and conditioning soil
Plant picking, preparation and packing for delivery
Carrying out deliveries
Follow planting plans and designs
Flower bed set outs
Planting and mulching
Garden maintenance, providing advice to clients regarding aftercare
On-site garden maintenance at The Nursery
Creating new planting areas
Pruning, hedge cutting
Site maintenance – gritting, clearing drains, leaf collection
Pesticide spraying
Fork-lift truck operation
General Requirements for working at Holden Clough
Happy to assist in all departments / teams across site.
Able to communicate / advise customers on-site and off.
Ability to work safely and responsibly, adhering to policies and guidelines.
Time management, flexibility and working to deadlines
Assisting with show gardens / flower shows.
Desirable Qualities:
Full clean driving license
Good level of physical fitness
Landscaping experience
Passion for gardening, plants, and the natural world
Experience in horticulture, landscaping, plant care, plant identification and maintenance preferred
Strong customer service and communication skills
Creative, proactive, and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and share knowledge
Flexible, adaptable and versatile. Can do attitude
Ability to work well in a team and / or independently using own initiative
Pesticide license preferred
Fork-lift truck driving experience a plus.
Benefits:
Full Time - 5 days and may include 1 weekend day. TBD at interview.
£ Above National Minimum Wage
Due to our rural location, you will need to have your own transport.
