About Holden Clough:
Nestled within the picturesque countryside of The Ribble Valley, Holden Clough Nurseries is an award winning, vibrant, natural space full of plants and wonder. As plant growers, we offer one of the largest offerings of homegrown hardy perennials in the North West. We have an on-site café, many retail spaces, we host artisan markets, workshops, expert-led talks, and we also offer a successful flower bed / garden design service called The Wonder Garden. After getting busier on the Wonder Garden side of the business, we now need extra hands with the maintenance and upkeep of our Nursery site.
We are seeking an experienced maintenance / handy person to join our team for the season, for routine site repairs, maintaining on-site flower beds, planting new areas and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and repairs of on-site fixtures and fittings
Assisting with site maintenance and safety – gritting, clearing drains, leaf collection
On-site garden / flowerbed maintenance and planting. Keeping on top of existing areas and creating new ones
Assist the Wonder Garden team with garden design, plant deliveries, and occasional bed preparation and planting
Delivering goods to customers (ad hoc – this isn’t a large part of the business)
Some IT maintenance / skills would be beneficial
General Requirements for working at Holden Clough
Happy to assist in all departments / teams across site
Able to communicate / advise customers on-site and off
Ability to work safely and responsibly, adhering to policies and guidelines
Time management, flexibility and working to deadlines
Assisting with show gardens / flower shows
Desirable Qualities:
Full clean driving license
Good level of physical fitness
Experienced / competent with the use of power tools
Broad knowledge / experience of site maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, joinery, hard landscaping and building)
Good level of horticultural knowledge preferred
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Flexible, adaptable and versatile. Can do attitude.
Ability to work well in a team and / or independently using own initiative
