This August Bank Holiday…we have a brand new Holden Clough Tour.
We invite you to join us at The Nursery as we take you beyond the staff-only signs on an all-access look at how we grow our plants.
We’ll start in the Potting Shed, where you’ll see a live demonstration of our team working with our potting machine. Some say this is where the magic starts! We’ll then head outside, where we’ll give you a rundown of our rich, colourful history, which includes plant hunters exploring the world and bringing back plant specimens to this very area, dating right back to 1927.
You’ll then get exclusive access to our Growing Field, where you can wander around and choose / purchase plants that we are currently growing…something that we have never done before!
So, if you’ve ever wondered how we grow our plants, what goes into the process, how it started, and what it takes to grow one of the largest selections of award-winning, hardy perennials in the north…
This tour is for you!
The behind-the-scenes tour will include:
- A guided tour where you’ll learn the history of the site.
- An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how and where we grow our plants, from the potting machine to the growing field.
- Exclusive access to purchase from The Growing Field.
- Plant and planting advice from our experts.
- 10% off on all plant purchases for you on the day.

£5 to book, which is then deducted if / when you purchase plants. (Terms apply)
Terms:
We will meet downstairs in The Potting Shed. Please arrive 10 minutes before your time slot.
Please wear closed-toe shoes.
Places are limited as groups are kept small, due to health and safety on our site. If you miss your slot, we can’t guarantee that the following one will have space.
If you purchase outdoor plants from us, we will knock off your £5 booking fee from your total. This is only applicable to outdoor plants. The £5 will only be knocked off sales on the day of your tour.
Please note that the £5 booking fee is not refundable if no purchase of plants is made.
