About the Host

Currently living in North Yorkshire, Katrina was born in Liverpool and grew up in the seaside town of Southport, where she developed a deep connection to the coast. Nature, light, and the landscapes of Mallorca inspire much of her recent work. She is especially drawn to the contrasts of sun and shadow and how colour can evoke emotion and memory.

Although Katrina dreamed of becoming an artist as a child, life took her in a different direction and she became an architectural technologist, which suited her eye for detail and love of structure. During a career break in 2020, she had the chance to re-evaluate her priorities and return to her first love - drawing and creating art. More recently, Katrina has branched out from graphite and coloured pencil to explore acrylic and mixed media. Her work is a celebration of vibrant colour, texture, and energy, blending her background in architecture with a passion for bold, expressive colour.
